Marco's Pizza opens in Southern Pines

Marco’s Pizza is now open in Southern Pines. The store made the announcement Monday on its Facebook page.

Franchise owner Teresa Salter, from Lee County, opened her second Marco’s Pizza location at the Tyler’s Ridge Shopping Center on N.C. 22 near the Moore County Airport. Her other location is in Cameron in Harnett County.

Salter moved to North Carolina four years ago to help her brother open a Marco’s Pizza. He then helped her open her first location.

“We are a close competitive family; my sister owns two Marco’s Pizza locations in Texas. Our first stores actually opened on the same day, but she beat me to store 2,” said Salter.

The Southern Pines pizza shop is open for carryout Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. They have limited delivery availability due to staffing issues from the pandemic.

“I have always liked Southern Pines, and the area is growing,” said Salter. “And there is not a lot of dining options in that area. When we heard about the new development, we knew it was the right location. I have a customer who drives from Southern Pines/Pinehurst to buy six weeks of pizzas and freezes them, he has done this for years. I told him I would open a store there one day.

“My husband is in the U.S. Army and got orders overseas shortly after finding the site. With our long-term goals in mind, we decided to go for it! I decided to stay here with kids, run the current store and open this location.”

Marco’s Pizza offers calzones, subs, salads, brownies, wings, pizza bowls and of course, pizza. Pizza bowls are a great alternative for customers that are watching their carbs.

“We make our dough daily in the store and use local fresh produce,” said Salter.
