NC newborns now screened for two additional disorders

The new year began with a flurry of births Wednesday at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Six babies were born on the first day of 2020, with the first arriving 33 minutes after midnight. Amias Blane Jayer, born to Jada Solis Thomas and Jonathan Jayer, weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces and checked in a 20 and a half inches long.

Delivered by Dr. Pamlea Kantorowski with Southern Pines Women’s Health Center, Amias was doing well on his first day and excited to go home and meet his older sister.
