Around 11:30 Thursday morning, a mother and her adult daughter crashed off the shoulder of the road and came to a stop in a most seemingly complex way.
The crash occurred on N.C. 5 near Sand Pit Road in Aberdeen.
The car left the road as the daughter was driving and came to a stop in the dead center of 10 trees and a light pole. The furthest distance between any of the poles and the car was less than 3 feet, and the trees completely surrounded the vehicle.
Police speculated on the scene that the car entered into the woods between two large trees. Then the car struck a tree head-on, causing the vehicle to flip up on end, and instead of coming back down, the car pivoted approximately 45° coming to rest tightly between the group of trees.
Both mother and daughter were in good, stable condition and were treated by Moore county EMS. No structures or other drivers were involved in the single-vehicle crash.
Aberdeen Fire Department, Aberdeen Police Department, and Moore County EMS responded to the scene.
