Motorcyclist airlifted after crashing in Carthage

A man riding his motorcycle crashed Sunday in Carthage. The single-vehicle accident happened in a curve in the 400 block of Stage Road just after 4 p.m.

Carthage Fire Department, along with Moore County EMS, were dispatched. A firefighter arrived on the scene soon after and immediately requested air care which had already been dispatched and was launching due to the nature of the accident.

The man was transported to a landing zone set up at the corner of U.S. Highway 15-501 and Priest Hill Road. He was flown to an area trauma center, but his condition is unknown at this time.

Stage Road was shut down for an extended period while crews worked the scene, and Highway Patrol investigated the accident.

Priest Hill Road was shut down briefly while the landing zone was set up for air care.
