Anne Burrell (Fleming) Tobin of Southern Pines, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the First Health Hospice House, Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Anne was born on April 22, 1938 in Syracuse, New York to the late David B. Fleming, Jr. and Irene B. Fleming. She grew up in Syracuse, Albany and Whitesboro, New York and graduated from Whitesboro Central High School in 1956. She graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland in June 1960, and married the love of her life, John Douglas Tobin, Sr., on June 18, 1960. Anne and Doug went on to celebrate 56 very happy years together, before Doug’s passing in July, 2016. Anne spent her life providing loving care to her family as a homemaker, and was the devoted mother to, and is survived by her adoring children, David Martin (Lorraine) Tobin of Monument, Colorado, Michael Francis (Jodi) Tobin of Columbus, Ohio, Margaret Anne (Corey) Brennan of Clayton, North Carolina, and daughter-in-law, Jamie Lynn Tobin, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; her eight treasured grandchildren, Tyler (Dan), Julie, Danielle (Matt), Katie, David (Haley), Chelsea (Tom), Michael (Michelle) and Sarah; her seven precious great-grandchildren, Shawn, Quinn, Mollie, Blake, Parker, Gabriel and Aviva; her sister, Catherine (John) Kenyon, of Clemmons, North Carolina; and her brother-in-law, Frank (Jeanne) Tobin, of Scottsdale, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends.
Anne was predeceased by her cherished son, John Douglas Tobin, Jr. just 6 weeks prior to her passing.
Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of a Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Belle Meade, Southern Pines, North Carolina. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, New York at the convenience of the family, and announced at a later date.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude for the compassionate care provided by First Health Hospice House to Anne and her family during her final days.
