Nelson Irvine, 71, of Southern Pines, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025.
Born on September 28, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nelson was the son of the late Nelson Irvine Sr. and Violet Pritchard Irvine. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Campbell (Charles); his beloved wife, Rae Irvine; his daughters, Alison Irvine and Cara Monroe (Jonathan); his mother-in-law, Lucille Adcock; and his son-in-law, Ed Adcock.
He was a devoted husband, father, and friend who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for the outdoors and especially loved being on or near the water. From whitewater kayaking to biking and hiking, he was always drawn to adventure and fresh air. He shared many peaceful walks in the woods with his faithful dog, Buddy. Nelson also had a strong and steady faith that guided him throughout his life. Above all, he cherished time with his family.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Southern Pines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org) or Young Life (younglife.org) in Nelson’s honor.
