Larry William Rice, age 85, of Vass, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at The Greens at Pinehurst, surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 12:00pm at Cypress Springs Presbyterian Church with Rev. Corrina Gambrell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 11 until 12. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
Larry was born in Aurora, Indiana on June 30, 1941, to the late William Leonard Rice and Hazel Johnston Rice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Cameron Rice, sister, Carol, brother, Tim.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Upon returning from the service, he attended Pembroke College. He worked in the insurance industry and also taught some at Union Pines High School. He enjoyed fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Rice (Donna) of Kernersville, Billy Rice of Vass; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Landen, Peyton, Allison, Holly, Jacob, Elijah; great-grandchildren, Axle, Parker, Annie Lou, Merry Jane, Jet, Willa Jean, Walton, Amelia Sue, Everly, Ellie, River; brothers, Ricky of Virginia, Billy of Indiana, Raymond of Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cypress Springs Presbyterian Church in memory of Larry Rice.
