William “Billy” Arthur Marts, age 59, of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Billy was born on December 18, 1966, in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and was the son of Sandra Crum Marts and the late William Marts. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Marts.
Billy was well known throughout the Moore County community as the owner and operator of Aberdeen Times and Moore Breaking Newz. Through his work, he had a passion for keeping the community informed and connected, sharing local news and happenings with the people and community he called home.
Billy is survived by his wife of 12 years, Elizabeth “Beth” Marts of Aberdeen; his mother, Sandra Marts of Huntersville; daughter, Katelyn George (Chris) of Wagram, NC; son, Jackson Dowd of Cameron, NC; and one beloved granddaughter, Coralie.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Gregg Newton officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
