Obituary for Doris Jean Ogden of Whispering Pines

Doris Jean Ogden (Dee), age 65, of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Dee was born November 3, 1956 in Lexington Virginia and moved to Roanoke in 1967.   She graduated from Cave Spring High School in 1974 and enlisted in the Army where she proudly served as a medic. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren Ogden, Flora Ogden and her brother Jerry Ogden.

Surviving are her children, Amy Lawrence (Darwin) of Roanoke, Virginia, Matthew Dunn (Carrieann) of Belle Fourche, South Dakota and Jason Dunn of Watertown South Dakota. In addition to her children, she leaves behind her grandchildren: Taylor, Brody, Caden, Wyatt, Owen, Onaha, Addyson, Sasha, Braydon, Peyton, Chase, Cobain, Jericho, and her great-grandson Xavier. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings, Charles Ogden, Janet Price (Mike) and Penny Simmons (Flea), and host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

Doris retired from the Veterans Administration, in Chicago Illinois, and relocated to North Carolina.  She had a compassionate heart for rescue dogs, and fostered many over the years. 

A service to honor her memory will be held on Saturday March 26, 2022 at Penn Forest Christian Church, 3028 Penn Forest Blvd., Roanoke, Virginia. The family will receive guests from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, service to follow immediately following visitation.
