Edith was a native of Moore County and a graduate of Elise High School.  She worked at Southern Garment and the family businesses: Poe’s Used Cars and Poe’s Storage Buildings. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister in law.  Edith was always concerned with making others feel happy and loved.  She was more of a mother than grandmother, in fact, around Robbins and even in the Nursing home she was fondly referred to as “Granny.”  Edith was an active member of Robbins First Wesleyan Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible school leader and she began the Kid’s Ministry of the church. Her family remembers the wonderful coconut cakes, her reading the Bible, but most importantly her advice to the family “Love One Another.”  Edith was a daughter of the late Vergil  and Lillie Blake Swaringen and was preceded in death by husband: Earl Poe; sons: Eddie Poe, Wayne Poe; brothers: Jeff Swaringen, Dewey Swaringen.

Edith is survived by granddaughters: Kathy Blake and Tim Womble, Amy Fernandez and husband Claudio, Danica Davis and husband Danny; grandson: Travis Poe and partner C J,  great grandchildren:  Matthew Ingram, Bennie Williamson, Skylynn Williamson, Kayla Womble, Daxton Davis, Margarita Moreno, Rosa Fernandez, Joshua Fernandez Claudio Fernandez,  great great granddaughter: Mattilyn Ingram; nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Westfield Health and Rehabilitation  for their loving care of “Granny.”
