Edward R. Baker, age 92, died Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Myrtle Beach Manor, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Roseland United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Willard officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, July 29th at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
Ed was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a former Southern Pines Policeman and retired from Carolina Power and Light after over 37 years of service. He was very active with the Boys Scouts of America, having served as an assistant scout master, with the Order of the Arrow and also with the cook team. Ed served as a past master of Roman Eagle Masonic lodge #550 in Aberdeen and was a very active member of the Moore County Shrine Club. Ed also was a member of the Aberdeen Lions Club for many years. He was a very active long-time member of the Roseland United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Kirk Baker and his second wife, Ada Monroe Baker.
He is survived by his children: Linda Baker Fogleman and husband Dean of Aberdeen, Edward Lane Baker and wife Pam of Aberdeen, grandchildren: Corey Fogleman (Kelly), Cheri Fogleman (David Lang), Ashlee Combs (Wes), Kaylee Thomas (Justin), Chandler Baker, great grandchildren: Quaden, Macyn, Piper, June, and Tinlee, a brother: Bob Baker of Fort White, FL, a sister: Carol Baker Matthews (Van) of Aberdeen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr.., Tampa FL 33607, or to the Roseland United Methodist Church, 181 Rose Ridge Rd., Aberdeen, NC 28315.
