Jerry Wayne Upchurch, 82, of Asheboro passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 28th, 2021 surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on November 15, 1938 to W. N. “Jack” and Evelyn Upchurch and was raised in High Falls, NC.
Jerry was the proud owner and operator of Hillside Barber Shop for 58 years. When he wasn’t at the barbershop, you could find him on the golf course chasing a ball around the greens. He was a member of the Randolph Squares Dancing Club. He was an avid walker, loved to travel and always loved a good ball game.
Jerry was a father, husband, and a devoted Duke fan. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his son Wayne, step-children Lora Smith (David), Keith Wilson (Brooke), Bradley Wilson, 8 step-grandchildren (1 step-grandson, Colby, of the home) and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Jerry was one of eight children and is survived by his brothers Darrell, Jackie, Tommy (Doris), Freddie (Neva), and sisters Delores Brady (Joe), Pat Cole (Larry), Connie Sessoms (Robert) and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his son, Twila Allen Upchurch.
The public may pay their respects on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins.
A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, 2021, 1:00 at Acorn Ridge Baptist Church in Robbins. Burial will follow the service at High Falls Methodist Church in Highfalls, where he was a member.
