Mary Louvene Sanders Fields of Carthage, NC, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on October 7, 2023. Mary was a beautiful, kind, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her love for her family was steadfast and boundless. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, dancing, and shopping, but most of all spending time with her family.
Born on November 26, 1935, in Eagle Springs, North Carolina, Mary was one of eleven children. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Doctor A. “D.A./Doc” Fields, her parents, Grover C. Sanders and Nepsie E. McKenzie Sanders, brothers Raymond, Reid, J.D., Clark, and Major Sanders, and sisters Monnie Jones, Velna Newberry, Vida Richardson, Geraldine Moore, and Faye Sanders.
Mary is survived by daughter Kim Fields and husband Curt Schmeck; son David Fields and wife Jessie Fields; grandchildren, Taylor Schmeck, Mary Schmeck, Doctor Fields, Ella Fields, and Tula Fields; sisters-in-law, Dora Maness, and Lorraine Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Cool Springs Methodist Church, Carthage, NC, 28327, followed by visitation in the church fellowship hall.
