Paul J. Williams, 97, passed away peacefully at Clapp’s Nursing Center, Pleasant Garden, NC on May 30, 2020.
Paul was born on January 31, 1923 in Moore County to the late Patrick Williams and Callie Florence Williams of Robbins, NC.
Paul joined the US Army and was a WWII Veteran serving in Germany. His Honorable Discharge from Battery A 551st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion was received on October 22, 1945. His long distance truck driving career totaled 33 years.
Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Britt Williams, his daughter, Beverly “Bo” Williams Lucas and his brothers, Carlton, Willie, Wilbert, Raymond and Worthy Curtis “WC”. He is survived by his sister, Edith Hussey of Robbins; his daughters, Sue W. Blanton (Tom) of Greensboro and Kim Seawell of Asheboro; his sons, Paul Williams, Jr. (Linda) of Greensboro and Michael Williams of Carthage; one grandson, Scott Williams (Nancy) of Summerfield; five granddaughters, Jill W. Mongelli of Greensboro, Brittany S. Caviness (Trent) of Bennett, Haley S. Barus (Garret) of Robbins, Amanda Blanton of Greensboro and Andrea B. Saenz (Alex) of Summerfield; three great grandsons, Ethan Mongelli of Greensboro, Brett Williams of Summerfield and Mason Williams of Summerfield; one great granddaughter, Chloe Caviness of Bennett.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Clapp’s Nursing Center, Pleasant Garden, NC, where Paul was cared for and dearly loved by the staff.
A military graveside service and family and friends visitation will be held at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Robbins, NC at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, PO Box 395, Robbins, NC 27325.
