Mr. Prentice Gillespie, 94, of Carthage, died Friday, Sept. 25, at his residence.
A public walk-through viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pugh & Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Carthage. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Stone Family Cemetery.
He attended Clio School. He loved to farm and garden. Prentice retired from Riddle Equipment The John Deere Company, in Carthage, NC. Prentice always took his morning & evening walks, he loved the fellowship at McDonalds. He never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face, he loved to dance. Loved his family and spending time with them and going to the beach.
He leaves behind his lovely wife Hattie E. Gillespie of the home. One brother John Frank McCrimmon (Alice), one brother in law Woodrow Martin, of Carthage, NC. His children; Christeen Gillespie, Betty Martin, Gerald Lee Martin (Marleen), Rosa Covington (Clayton) all of Carthage, NC. Robert Lee Gillespie (Jackie) of Cameron, NC. Frank Lee Gillespie of Aberdeen, NC, Freddie Lloyd (Sallie) of NY, Martha McInnis (Dan), and Jennie May Gillespie of Clio, SC. A host of grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great- great- grandchildren. A special granddaughter no matter what she was always there Shunville Gillespie. A special great granddaughter always lighting up his face and putting a smile on his face Chyanne Marsh. One special friend Mike Quick his adopted son of Carthage, NC.
