Ronnie R. Harker, 68, or Robbins, NC, formerly of Concord, died Monday, January 11, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.
Ronnie was born March 5, 1952 to Edward Elbridge Harker Jr., and Matoca Isaac Harker. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vernon Harker.
Ronnie attended Northwest Cabarrus High School and later worked an apprenticeship with Blansett’s Jewelry in Charlotte. He worked in jewelry for over 30 years, first at Blansett’s, then at the Gold Connection in Albemarle and Troy until he opened and operated his own store, Harker’s Jewelry and Repair, Inc., in Troy for almost 16 years.
Almost MacGyveresques, Ronnie was a skilled craftsman and repairman; always busy with a project in carpentry or electronics. He enjoyed bowling, pool, card games and he loved animals.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Martha Haywood Harker; brother: Eddie Harker (Lolita); sister: Yvonne Perkins (Ed); sister in law: Kathy Harker; nephews: Alan Harker, Barry Hess (Amanda); nieces: Terrie Harker (fiancee, Evar Johnson), Renae Myers (Derek); eight great-nephews and nieces; many other relatives and friends
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society or West Cabarrus Church, 7655 Brouton Smith Blvd., Concord, NC 28027.
A private graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Pine Rest Cemetery, with the Reverend Y Z Isaacs and the Reverend Arnold Comer officiating.
The body will lie in repose from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, Monday, January 25, 2021 and 9:00 to noon, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Kennedy Funeral Home. Due to COVID restrictions, no formal visitation is planned.
