Richard Bates Taylor, age 64, died Friday, November 17, 2017 at his home.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Yates Thagard Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6-8 PM Monday, November 20, 2017.

Mr. Taylor served for 3 years in active duty in the US Army.  He then transferred to the NC National Guard.  While in the part-time National Guard, he also worked at Fort Bragg full-time as a civil service employee at the MATES facility for 18 years.  He retired from the National Guard as a Sergeant First Class.  After his retirement from the military, he was employed at the Moore County Waste Water Treatment Plant for over 10 years.  He also was a member of Yates Thagard Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Taylor, his children; Samuel Taylor and his wife Stephanie of Cameron, NC, Esther Bernal-Aniceto and her husband Oveth of Hillsborough, NC, Ruth Terry of Aberdeen, his siblings;

Frances Blackwell, Kenneth Taylor, Robin Ragan and Sonya Bennett all of Georgia, his grandchildren; Isaias, Addison, Madison, Eliza, and Benjamin.
