Multiple units responded to a structure fire after a mobile home caught fire just before 2 a.m. Friday morning.
According to Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, crews were dispatched to a structure fire on Airport Road, and the first arriving unit reported a working fire with visible flames coming from the mobile home.
Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line and entered the home to search for the source of the fire and check for possible victims. The fire was located in a bedroom and bathroom area, where crews began extinguishing the flames.
Whispering Pines firefighters assisted by securing a water supply from a nearby hydrant and helping with interior operations. A Southern Pines fire engine later arrived and relieved Cypress Pointe personnel working inside the structure.
The tenant, who was the only occupant of the home, safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.
“This incident serves as an important reminder to ensure your home is equipped with working smoke detectors,” encourages Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue.
