The O’Neal School announced Mr. Mark Epstein and Mrs. Julia Latham as honorary co-chairs for the School’s 2020 “Roaring Twenties” Annual Benefit to happen on Friday, March 6.
Parents of Max (Grade 9) and Nik (Grade 6), Jules and Mark have been involved with the school since their children started attending O’Neal in pre-kindergarten. Mark has served on the Board of Trustees and helps as a musician with O’Neal’s musicals and other performing arts events. Jules also helps with theater activities.
Jules and Mark reflect on their O’Neal experience – “When folks ask us ‘why O’Neal’, we’ve always replied that first, O’Neal is a place where children and parents have meaningful relationships and engagement with teachers and administrators. And second, enrichment programs are considered an essential part of the education process and are taught by professionals. While some schools are forced to consolidate these programs, at O’Neal we know that the arts thrive.”
In addition to being a financial trader, Mark is a veganic farmer. He and Jules own Flow Farm, a grower of veganic produce and producer of biochar. Jules is an environmental attorney.
Jules is an active member of the Sandhills community serving as administrator for Sandhill’s PRIDE’s Safe Zone Program. She serves on the Pinehurst Planning and Zoning Board and is Chair of the Board of Adjustment. She also serves as the managing director of Imagine Youth Theater. Mark is a Sunday school teacher at Temple Beth Shalom. Jules and Mark are avid theater goers and ballet aficionados. The whole family participates in the annual Nutcracker with Gary Taylor Dance.
The community is invited to attend O’Neal’s Roaring Twenties Benefit on March 6 at the Pinehurst Country Club. The Benefit is O’Neal’s largest fundraising event that supports the annual operating budget of the School. 300 tickets will be available this year, and the event will feature live and silent auctions, mobile bidding, raffles, cocktails, a seated dinner and after-party. Benefit tickets can now be purchased online. Please go to www.ONealSchool.org for more information.
