Pinebluff Lake is temporarily closed to swimming and other recreational activities as a precaution while water quality testing is conducted, the town announced on its website.
The public notice on the town’s website said the Moore County Health Department contacted the town regarding citizen concerns about the lake’s appearance.
The town said that although no specific contamination has been confirmed, it is closing the lake out of an abundance of caution and to protect public health and safety until appropriate bacterial testing is completed and the results confirm the water is safe for recreational use.
The town will provide updates as information becomes available.
“The Town appreciates your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of all residents, said the town. This closure is purely precautionary and does not indicate that any health hazard has been confirmed. We are committed to providing timely updates and reopening the lake for recreational use as soon as it is safe to do so.”
