The PNC Bank in Southern Pines was robbed Wednesday afternoon around 1 pm. There were no injuries reported at the bank. Southern Pines Police released the suspect’s name as Wayne Thomas Johnson, 72, with no known address.
The suspect was arrested about two hours later at the Belk’s parking lot at Pinecrest Plaza. The suspect was in a Safe Way Taxi as the Southern Pines Police in an unmarked vehicle were waiting to capture the suspect.
