Register of Deeds provides free service to protect against real estate fraud

Moore County Register of Deeds Thursday announced changes it is undergoing to limit public access to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Effective Thursday, March 19, marriage licenses, notary public oaths, requests for birth, death, and marriage certificates will be through appointments only by calling 910-947-6370. Citizens can also request birth, death, and marriage certificates at http://rod.moorecountync.gov and click on links and select ROD home page for the online request. You may also mail a request to Register of Deeds, P.O. Box 1210, Carthage NC 28327.

Electronic Recording of Land Records will continue, and attorneys can enroll with the office’s Electronic Submitter Vendors Simpilfile, CSC, or ePin. For questions, please call 910-947-6372.

The Carthage office will keep these proactive measures in place “until it becomes safe to proceed with business as usual.”

Please email [email protected] or call 910-6370 for any questions.
