Rider transported after crashing motorcycle in Lobelia

A single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle shut down one lane of Highway 690 at Sarason Place in Lobelia Tuesday evening. The crash happened around 7 p.m. when a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling west on Highway 690 lost control in a curve.

The motorcycle went off the roadway and into a ditch, hitting a drain culvert before coming to a stop. The motorcycle sustained moderate damage in the crash, leaving the front wheel severed from the bike.

According to authorities on scene, the rider was not seriously injured and was able to walk around afterward. He was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One lane of Highway 690 was shut down while crews worked the scene and North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated.

Responding units were Crains Creek Fire Department, Moore County EMS, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
