Semi truck overturns in Carthage curve

An early morning crash in Carthage involving an overturned tractor-trailer on McReynolds Street near Old Glendon Road on Thursday drew a response from emergency crews and towing services.

A witness at the scene and local law enforcement told Sandhills Sentinel that the semi was traveling on McReynolds Street at a speed believed to be above the posted 35 mph limit. As the truck approached the curve near Bibey’s Automotive, it lost control, flipped over, and slid into the business’s parking lot.

The tractor-trailer suffered heavy damage, prompting an immediate safety response from authorities.

Despite the severity of the wreck, the driver was not injured. Witnesses reported the driver was alert, able to walk around, and did not require medical attention.

Multiple tow trucks were dispatched to the scene to assist with removing the semi. A portion of McReynolds Street was temporarily closed while crews worked to remove the truck.

No further details were released on scene.
