Six years of lifting for a cause

Hosting a charity event, The L.E.O. Lift Off, Anytime Fitness of the Pines had multiple police departments from the Moore County region teaming up to go head to head for a win.

The recent event brought Moore County law officers and a team from Anytime Fitness to battle it out in four separate events: bench, squat, deadlift and dips.

Years of lifting for a cause

For six years now, the event has shown how the departments support each other despite their area of service.

“You can truly see the comradery in this lift-off,” said Hannah Ambrozewski, co-owner of Anytime Fitness. “Everyone is cheering on every single person who sets up on the equipment. They want the best out of each person that is there to compete. The intensity is highly prevalent when that Olympic bar is lifted.”

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office team had the best overall gross weight lifts, with over 1,500 pounds lifted. Over 7,000 pounds (not counting the dip category) was lifted in the three categories of bench press, squat, and deadlift.

Prizes were awarded to the police department with the best lifts, as well as individual prizes for each category.

“Many of the competitors left the event fed, trophy and prizes in hand,” said Hannah.

All donations collected go directly to the Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association.

“We’re happy to be a small part of our local officers getting some recognition and togetherness,” said Tristan Ambrozewski, co-owner of Anytime Fitness.

The Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association is a non-profit organization open to current and retired individuals employed by law enforcement departments within Moore County and North Carolina.
