After 12 weeks of advanced leadership training, Lt. Brandon Lugabihl of the Southern Pines Police Department has completed the 103rd session of the Administrative Officers Management Program at North Carolina State University.
The 12-week program, offered through the School of Public and International Affairs, provides management and leadership education tailored to law enforcement. Since 1989, the program has trained officers through coursework that addresses current challenges and professional practices.
The Southern Pines Police Department writes that “the completion of the Administrative Officers Management Program is a display of Lieutenant Lugabihl’s dedication to his profession, department, and our community.”
The Administrative Officers Management Program provides advanced leadership and management training for law enforcement professionals. It operates within a nationally accredited public administration program, which sets it apart from most police management schools. Participants complete five courses that carry upper-level undergraduate or graduate credits, and the program’s curriculum mirrors the academic standards of NC State’s degree-seeking students.
Coursework covers public administration, organizational behavior, constitutional and legal issues, government budgeting and pensions, and applied research in policing. The program emphasizes practical leadership tools, agency management, ethical decision-making and evidence-based policing. Credits earned through the program are often transferable, giving graduates both professional development and academic advancement opportunities.
