Given Memorial Library and Tufts Archives has added a collection of MEternally Reminiscence Kits designed to support individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other memory-related conditions. The kits were made possible through a memorial gift from John Barrett in honor of his wife, Mary Anne Barrett.
The kits are produced by the MEternally Company and are based on reminiscence therapy, an approach that uses familiar images, sounds, and activities to help individuals recall memories, encourage social interaction, and support emotional well-being.
Each kit includes hands-on materials such as photographs, puzzles, music, and games designed to promote engagement and conversation. The kits are intended for use by individuals with memory loss as well as caregivers and family members.
Themes include the 1960s, outdoor activities, animals, farming, and other topics reflecting shared life experiences.
“These kits provide meaningful opportunities for connection for individuals and families navigating memory loss,” said Audrey Moriarty, library and archives director. “We are grateful for this gift and for the opportunity to honor Mary Anne’s memory in a way that serves the community.”
The MEternally Reminiscence Kits are available for checkout at the front desk of the Given Memorial Library and Tufts Archives.
