Aberdeen Lake Park received a facelift just in time for the Fourth of July celebration.
The Town of Aberdeen announced in its Bon Accord newsletter the completion of several Aberdeen Lake Park projects with a “big one” coming soon.
The planned capital projects were listed in the newsletter as paving the trail, replacing the gazebo, installing new swinging benches, and resurfacing the playground.
The newly paved trail around Pages Lake will provide a more accessible, safer trail and easier, more consistent maintenance. The trail has also been finished between the boat launch and the dam.
The Town said flood waters from last year’s Tropical Storm Chantal compromised the playground by raising the plastic borders and disturbing the stone base. FEMA funds were used to secure the base, replace the surfacing, and install a new concrete border.
FEMA funds have been secured to replace the pedestrian bridge over the lake that Chantal damaged. The Town said this bigger project will take longer than others, but it is moving forward.
