An investigation is ongoing after a shooting left two men injured Saturday morning, according to the Southern Pines Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched around 12:50 a.m. to the area of Rothney Avenue and Haines Court after receiving reports of shots fired.
“Officers from the Southern Pines Police Department’s Patrol and Investigations Divisions responded to the scene and encountered a large crowd gathered near the location of the shooting, where a private party had been taking place,” writes Southern Pines Deputy Chief Robert Heaton in a press release.
Before officers arrived, the two adult male victims were transported in private vehicles to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, Heaton said.
Detectives recovered multiple shell casings, which were collected as evidence, and investigators also responded to the hospital to interview the victims.
Police said no arrests have been made, and there is no indication the shooting poses an ongoing threat to the community.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify witnesses and gather additional information.
