Carthage Town Manager Emily Yopp, in close consultation with Public Works Director Allen Smith, has declared a Water Shortage/Conservation Alert for all water customers, effective at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 6.
Effective Monday, all non-essential water uses are prohibited under the Town’s Water Shortage Conservation Ordinance. This includes watering lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, parks, and other recreational areas, as well as ornamental ponds and similar features.
The restrictions will remain in place until significant rainfall replenishes reservoirs.
“We anticipate a possible tropical system moving through next week and hope that we can remove the restrictions soon,” said Yopp in a news release on Thursday. “For any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.”
