The Southern Pines Police Department announced on Friday that Officer Shawn Cronin was promoted to sergeant in the patrol division.
His promotion begins Wednesday.
Cronin is a 9-year law enforcement veteran, having served in the Army.
Cronin holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice and is a certified field training officer.
In addition, Cronin is an active member of the Southern Pines Police Department’s Special Response Team and serves as a certified instructor in chemical and impact munitions.
