upgrade skills of NC manufacturing workforce

Golden LEAF Foundation scholarships are currently available for Workforce Continuing Education students that meet eligibility requirements and live in a qualifying county, one of which is Hoke County. Scholarship awards can be used to cover expenses related to tuition, fees, books, supplies, transportation, child care, or mid-skills credential exams.

The Golden LEAF Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1999 who receives a portion of North Carolina’s funding as a result of the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement with cigarette manufacturers and this funding is designed to assist rural communities who became tobacco-dependent and need to retrain a diverse workforce.

For the 2018-19 school year, the scholarship recipients at Sandhills Community College were: Jessica Rose, Angela Watkins, Pamela McRae, Malaysia Morrisey, Courtney Locklear, Shellie Locklear, Danielle Whitted, Roshaunda Burney, Casey  Moureau, LuDeanna Smith, Hayley Maynor, Janicia Sinclair, Marie Blac, Natasha Truss, Davida Troy, Tysheka Sellers, and Atwannia Pemberton
