A three-vehicle accident shut down Highway 211 at Central Avenue in Aberdeen Tuesday at 7 p.m. One of the vehicles was carrying small children. No serious injuries were reported. This was one of three accidents that occurred over a two-hour span Tuesday.
The driver of a Mercury Mountaineer on Central Drive pulled into the path of a Ford Explorer pulling a small trailer. The Mountaineer stuck the vehicle and trailer spinning it around in the road. The Mountaineer then struck a large commercial flatbed truck carrying a load of merchandise before going off the side of the road. One person in the Ford Explorer was transported to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
Highway 211 was shut down for an extended period of time until the road could be cleared.
Aberdeen Police are investigating the accident.
Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Aberdeen Police Department.
