Three people are facing drug and firearm charges after a traffic stop in Carthage.
“On February 2nd, 2024, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 10000 block of NC Highway 24/27 in Carthage,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a statement issued to Sandhills Sentinel. “Detectives initiated the traffic stop due to the vehicle displaying a lost/stolen registration plate. During the traffic stop, detectives conducted a search of the vehicle which resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, suboxone, items of drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.”
Eric Jeffreys, Russell Huddleston, and Pamela Jones were jailed at the Moore County Detention Center under $100,000 secured bonds.
All three suspects were arrested on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine by possession, trafficking in methamphetamine by transport, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintain a vehicle, dwelling or place to keep a controlled substance, simple possession of schedule III-controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of firearm by felon.
Huddleston is also facing an additional charge of possession of marijuana.
Jeffreys, 44, and Huddleston, 35, are from Cameron. Jones, 35, is from Sanford. All three are expected in court on Feb. 16 and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
