An early morning crash north of Carthage shut down a lane of travel on a busy highway and slowed the morning commute. The single-vehicle crash happened near Jannie Lane on U.S. 15-501 just north of Carthage just after 6 a.m.
Emergency units arrived on scene to find a Toyota Tacoma traveling south into Carthage had run off the opposite side of the roadway and crashed through a fence before finally coming to a stop on its side. The impact was so intense that it dislodged the camper shell on the truck, scattering work supplies around the vehicle.
The single male occupant appeared to be uninjured and refused treatment by EMS.
The northbound lane of U.S. 15-501 was shut down for a brief period while crews worked the scene.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash. No further details were released on scene.
Responding units were Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
