Vehicle rolls after driver reportedly falls asleep

Two people avoided serious injury after their vehicle rolled multiple times in Eagle Springs on Tuesday morning. The crash happened on N.C. Highway 705 shortly before 8 a.m., after the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.

Authorities on scene told Sandhills Sentinel that the vehicle, a Lexus sedan, left the roadway, rolled several times, and came to rest on its roof. The driver told first responders that he had fallen asleep while driving.

Air care was initially requested but later canceled. Both the driver and the female passenger with him were evaluated by EMS on scene but declined transport.

Responding to the scene were the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County EMS, and the Seven Lakes and West End Fire Departments.
