During a special meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, the Village of Pinehurst council members voted to appoint Jack Farrell to fill the empty council seat due to Patrick Pizzella’s election to mayor in November.
In accordance with North Carolina law, the Village Council appointed Farrell to fill the vacant position on the council to serve the remainder of Pizzella’s term, which expires in December 2025.
The appointment came after interviews with eleven applicants: Tom Hennie, Kirk Adkins, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Tom Beddow, Peter White, Steve Drinkwater, Frank Zaccherio, Jeffrey R. Gilbert, Jack Farrell, Justin Bramlage, and Daniel Logan.
“We spent two days talking with 11 dedicated Pinehurst residents,” said Mayor Patrick Pizzella. “Mr. Farrell stood out as he brings a tremendous amount of historical perspective to the Council, and we look forward to working with him.”
Farrell has spent the past 13 years serving in a number of capacities on various committees and boards. He has worked on the Pinehurst development ordinance, historic preservation guidelines, and several comprehensive plans.
Farrell will take the oath of office and be seated as a Pinehurst council member during the next regular meeting in Assembly Hall at 395 Magnolia Road.
