The winners of the Ninth Annual Outdoor Christmas Decorating Contest for historic district residences and downtown businesses have been announced by the Village of Pinehurst Beautification Committee.

Entries were judged by a panel of community leaders, and this years theme was “Christmas Around the World”, according to the Village of Pinehurst.

The winners were recognized for their outstanding and festive celebration of the season.

The Newcomb family was the overall winner of the residence category while second place went to the Wrona family and the Solomon family took third place.

Lorraine Tweed, Chair of the Christmas Decorating Contest, noted on the Village of Pinehurst’s website that “Each of these residences were exceptionally well presented and exude the Christmas spirit here in Pinehurst. The winners are to be congratulated for representing the season of Christmas so wonderfully.”

The residential winners received a gift basket of gift certificates and items from local businesses.

Tweed said, “Our downtown is recognized throughout the year for its beauty and charm, but it truly becomes a magical place during the holidays with all the white lights that adorn the buildings.”

The Corner Store at 1 Market Square won first place for downtown businesses.  Drum and Quill Public House at 40 Chinquapin Road was the second place winner, and third place winner was Dugan’s Pub at 2 Market Square.

Molly Rowell, Chair of the Beautification Committee, thanked all the businesses and residents for adorning Pinehurst during the Christmas season and said, “We are all truly blessed to live in such a wonderful place. If you really wish to get in the Christmas spirit, visit Pinehurst and the winning locations. You’ll be glad you did.”
