Woman arrested for failing to return moving truck

A 41-year-old Rockingham woman is facing felony charges after reportedly failing to return a moving truck.

Kristina Long is facing charges of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony identity theft, and felony obtaining property by false pretense, said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a press release on Friday.

Chavis stated that his department responded to a business near Highway 5 and Ridgeline Road on Oct. 11 regarding a moving truck that had not been returned. The name of the business was not provided.

“After investigating the claims, Aberdeen officers obtained witness statements, accounting records, and video surveillance, at which point they identified Long as the offender. Officers determined that during the commission of the crime of the vehicle motor theft, Long falsely presented herself as another individual.”

Warrants were issued after a second victim spoke with officers on Oct. 16.

Long was apprehended in Richmond County on Nov. 4. She was placed under a $20,000 secured bond.
