Wreck shuts down section of U.S. 1 in Aberdeen

A two-car collision occurred at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Roseland Road in Aberdeen on Monday, resulting in two people being taken to the hospital and forcing traffic to detour.

According to officials on scene, it appears a Honda Accord was traveling southbound when a Nissan Versa came off Roseland Road and struck it in the passenger’s front panel and door. Both vehicles had extensive damage with air bags deployed. There were two occupants in each car.

First responders arrived on scene at approximately 5:45 p.m. All four patients were assisted in being removed from the vehicles and evaluated by EMS. The driver and passenger of the Honda Accord were transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Both U. S. 1 southbound lanes and one northbound lane were blocked during the evaluation of patients, debris cleanup, and removal of the vehicles from the roadway. 

Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. Highway Patrol, and Aberdeen Police Department responded to the scene.
