Suspects in armed robbery case detained in Carthage

Two suspects are in custody Tuesday night due to observant deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

A “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert went out from the Sanford Police Department shortly after 8 p.m. for at least one “armed and dangerous” suspect allegedly involved in an armed robbery in Mint Hill. Within about 10 minutes of the BOLO being issued, a Moore County deputy traveling northbound into Carthage spotted a Ford passenger car reportedly matching the BOLO description.

According to radio traffic, the first deputy then met a second deputy who was also in the area and ready to assist. They initiated a traffic stop near the Marathon gas station on U.S. 15-501, and two suspects were taken into police custody shortly after without incident.

The Carthage Police Department arrived to provide additional assistance. No further details were released on scene.
