The police traded a day of lifting fingerprints for a day of lifting weights Saturday at the second annual Moore County LEO Lift Off Benefit Fundraiser.

It was cop muscle versus Anytime Fitness lifters at the competition which was held at Anytime Fitness in Southern Pines. The competition is the biggest fundraiser for Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association.

Teams competing were Anytime Fitness, Aberdeen Police Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Southern Pines Police Department, and the Pinehurst Police Department. Not only did Anytime Fitness host the event, they also donated $1,000 to the Moore County LEO.

There were six separate events that competitors participated in, including a Bench, Dead-lift, Squat (male/female), Push-ups and Shoulder Press category.

At the end of the competition, it was the Moore County Sheriff’s Department taking home the team trophy for first place. Chief Bob Temme, the Southern Pines Police Chief and President of the Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association, presented the trophy to the deputies.
