A North Carolina National Guard soldier turned himself in Thursday evening for allegedly attempting to steal weapons from Fort Bragg.

Spc. Cameron Reese Bray, 23, is now in military police custody and will be turned over to civilian authorities from an outstanding warrant for his arrest for an unrelated crime, the Fayetteville Observer reported.

Bray fled on foot near the intersection of King and Connecticut Roads abutting Southern Pines after attempting to steal two M4 rifles Thursday afternoon, and Fort Bragg Police asked the public’s help in capturing the suspect by calling 911 if anyone saw him.

Bray is originally from Greensboro.
