A new chapter for Companion Animal Clinic Foundation

The Companion Animal Clinic Foundation (CACF) announced that Kate Holmes has been named board president, succeeding Bobby Mudge. Holmes steps into this leadership role at a pivotal time as the organization continues its work to reduce pet overpopulation in central North Carolina by enabling affordable spay and neuter surgeries at the Sandhills Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic (SNVC), located on US-1 in Vass.

An advocate for animal welfare, Holmes has been an integral part of the CACF board of directors since 2018. As the board’s lead grant writer for four years, she played a vital role in securing funding to expand the foundation’s capacity. Now, as president, she’s committed to leading CACF through a new era of growth, including the expansion of the clinic and building an endowment to ensure long-term sustainability.

“I’m deeply honored to step into the role of Board President, following Bobbie Mudge’s incredible leadership,” said Holmes in a CACF press release. “Thanks to her guidance, we’ve overcome significant challenges and celebrated milestones such as our 100,000th surgery. As we expand our clinic and build an endowment, I’m excited to lead our dedicated team in driving further progress. Together, we’re making a real difference in addressing pet overpopulation in central North Carolina, and I look forward to the important work ahead.”

The CACF said it’s dedicated to providing high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter services to help reduce the number of unwanted animals in the region, a critical mission in the fight against pet overpopulation. Since its inception, the SNVC has performed over 100,000 surgeries, significantly impacting the local community and surrounding areas. The clinic’s efforts aim to support animal welfare by not only preventing the birth of unwanted litters but also easing the burden on local rescues and shelters. Under Holmes’ leadership, CACF will continue to focus on raising money to address these critical areas, with a special emphasis on expanding its outreach and services to underserved communities.

Holmes brings 40 years of experience in advertising, strategic planning, business writing, and team building, having worked with leading global brands, including Porsche, Lee Jeans, Timex, and IBM. Her experience in creating successful campaigns and guiding teams to achieve long-term goals will be an invaluable asset as she leads the CACF board into its next chapter, said CACF.

A lifelong animal lover, Holmes has rescued eight dogs, two cats, two donkeys, and a mini mule, and strongly believes in the mission of high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter as the most humane and effective way to address pet overpopulation, said CACF. She is also a rare survivor of pancreatic cancer and volunteers as a mentor with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, sharing her journey and offering support to others. Additionally, she volunteers with Prancing Horse, a therapeutic riding organization, and serves on the grant review committee for Moore Women, A Giving Circle, which supports women, children, and families in Moore County.

Holmes and her two rescue dogs, Pinky and Sweetie, reside in Southern Pines.
