Aberdeen man arrested on cyberstalking charge

A 49-year-old man from Aberdeen was jailed at the Moore County Detention Center under a 48-hour hold. He faces charges of cyberstalking and possession of methamphetamine.

Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis disclosed the information in a news release on his department’s Facebook page on Monday.

Chavis said officers located Johnny Patterson early Sunday morning and knew he had an arrest warrant for cyberstalking. Officers found suspected methamphetamine on Patterson before taking him into custody.

According to jail records, the alleged cyberstalking offense was on Aug. 12.

He is due in court on Sept. 9 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
