Aberdeen man charged in child sexual exploitation investigation

An Aberdeen man has been arrested following an investigation into the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided information that reportedly led forensic specialists to identify Joseph Beckley, 62, of Aberdeen, as a suspect.

On Oct. 22, investigators with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office arrested Beckley with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Computer Crimes Unit. He is facing four counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Beckley was booked into the Moore County Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on Nov. 13.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
