After administering 112 rabies vaccines, Animal Services schedules next clinic

Moore County Sheriff’s Department announced Animal Services administered 112 rabies vaccines to local pets at a community clinic on Saturday.

The clinic, held at Carthage Farm Supply, was organized to safeguard pets and the community from the rabies virus, Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a statement to Sandhills Sentinel.

“With nine confirmed rabies cases this year in Moore County, vaccinating pets is crucial to stopping the spread of this serious virus, which poses a community-wide threat to both humans and animals,” said Fields.

Vaccinations at the event were $5, and the turnout surpassed Animal Services’ expectations.

Fields said the process was smooth and efficient, ensuring pets received proper vaccinations while educating owners on rabies prevention.

Another clinic is scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Davis Community Center in Robbins from 9 to 2 p.m. For more details or to learn about other services, download the Moore County Sheriff’s Office App or call (910) 947-2858.
