A death investigation is underway after authorities located a body in the woods on Sunday morning.
The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media that on Sunday at approximately 10:01 a.m., deputies responded to the 100 Block of Reservation Road in Aberdeen regarding a call to investigate a person.
When deputies arrived, they located a deceased male in the woods. With assistance from the Aberdeen Police Department, detectives identified the man as Dylan Garner of Carthage, said Hoke County Sheriff’s Office. Garner’s next of kin has been notified.
“During an investigation, the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to ensuring that accurate and verified information is released to the public,” said the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office on social media on Monday. “Our goal is to provide transparency while avoiding the release of premature or misleading details that could interfere with the integrity of the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we continue to ensure that no misinformation is disseminated.”
