Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident in Hoke County. The accident occurred April 18 around 9 p.m. on U.S. 401, south of Norton Road.
Officials are searching for a driver of a 2001-2006 Kia Sedona minivan, possibly red or burgundy in color, who police say “struck a 2014 Kawasaki motorcycle from behind as they traveled north” and failed to stop.
“Debris from the motorcycle was on Norton Road, and fluid located there indicated that the Kia made a left turn onto Norton Road from U.S. 401,” said N.C. State Highway Patrol in a statement to Sandhills Sentinel. “The plastic center grill of the Kia was left on scene as well as the inside of a wheel well.”
Miguel Rogers was driving the motorcycle and suffered severe injuries. His passenger, Natasha McMillan, was killed.
“There were no witnesses to the collision that remained on scene,” said N.C. State Highway Patrol.
