Local firefighters participated in a training burn Sunday.
The training burn was at 2130 E. Connecticut Avenue and involved fire departments from Southern Pines, Cypress Pointe, Aberdeen, Pinehurst, Whispering Pines, Seven Lakes, Fort Bragg, Cary, and Moore County EMS.
Frank Staples with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue said the structure was ‘possibly and old Army barracks that had been moved in and then added onto.’
The training exercise started at 8:30 a.m.
“There were several hours of lighting and fighting before the decision was made to let it go,” said Staples. “There was good training today in the cold with some drizzle to add some spice.”
